Aquatic macrophytes Ceratophyllum demersum were incubated in some of the microcosms. The measured concentrations of all four metals decreased in the microcosms with macrophytes much faster than in the control microcosms without any macrophytes. The new data contribute to the scientific basis of innovative phytotechnology (phytoremediation) for treatment of polluted water and improving water quality.
